PAULINE'S PICKS: 'The Detroit News' Looks At Local Foreclosures

Posted
By: Pauline Millard Housing foreclosures are big news nowadays as the sub prime mortgage business grapples with instability.

At the heart of the mess are the homeowners themselves -- people who were given sub prime loans who may never have ever been able to pay them back.

Nationwide there have been few communities affected by the mortgage crisis, and The Detroit News takes a look at different issues facing local foreclosures. In addition to residents struggling to make payments, there are also the ones who have been victims of mortgage fraud and ended up losing their homes -- and all the accrued equity.

The Detroit News has put together a comprehensive package about the foreclosures, ranging from print articles to a gallery of victims of fraud -- as well as mugshots of the perps.

It's an intriguing was to educate oneself about the mortgage crisis, even if you don't know all that much about it to begin with.

Has your paper looked into the sub prime mortgage crisis? I'd love to see the results.
