PAULINE'S PICKS: 'The New York Times' Covers Fashion Week

Posted
By: Pauline Millard It's Super Tuesday and Americans far and wide are doing their civic duty by voting in the primaries.

The democratic process is newsworthy, sure, but there's another event going on that shan't be overlooked -- It's New York Fashion Week!

The Fashion industry is not a democratic process by any stretch. You can't even get into the tents without the right credentials, and there are plenty of large men out front who are happy to tell you to go hops. Even if you get past the front doors you can't get into a show unless you've been invited by the designer. Your spot in the fashion stratosphere is further reinforced by where you sit. Being in the front row or the back is a quick way to tell if you're a minion or a mogul.

The New York Times has a neat little video that shows different aspects of fashion week, from people milling around out front to obtuse angles of a BCBG show. It's an arty look at the event without getting wrapped up in fabulosity of it all.

They also put together a slideshow to show off the clothes. That's what the shows are all about, right?
