PAULINE'S PICKS: WashingtonPost.com Blogs About The Weather

Posted
By: Pauline Millard The beauty of the Internet is that no matter what you're into, there are sites and blogs and forums where you can indulge for hours. No topic is too obscure. Not even the weather.

When The Weather Channel debuted in 1982, some people laughed. Who, besides weather junkies, would watch it? It turned out that we are all weather junkies, and that's why when The Weather Channel was on the auction block a few weeks ago, it was considered a hot commodity.

The Washington Post recently launched a weather blog, which has covered more than just the daily forecast. Capital Weather Gang takes meteorology seriously, to the point where its bloggers take photos of curious cloud formations and ask readers to explain them. (They were genuinely flummoxed.)

It's a great team effort blog that is surely serving the needs of the weatherphiles in the greater DC area. It also shows that if you know your audience, you can create blogs and other products to cater to them.
