Paxton Media Buys Indiana Daily

By: The LaPorte County Herald-Argus daily newspaper is being sold to the Paxton Media Group, which owns a competing daily in the same county.

The sale from the Small Newspaper Group is expected to be effective October first. The sales price was not disclosed.

With the addition of the Herald-Argus, Kentucky-based Paxton will publish 32 daily newspapers, including The News-Dispatch of Michigan City, about 10 miles from LaPorte.

It is Paxton Media's third purchase of an Indiana newspaper in five months and will give it 11 papers in the state. The company bought The Herald-Press of Huntington in April and the Chronicle-Tribune of Marion in July.
