'Peanuts' Exhibit Focuses on Baseball

Posted
By: E&P Staff A "Peanuts" exhibit called "Baseball as Allegory" will open May 14 at the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, Calif. It runs through Nov. 3.

The show -- co-curated by "Pearls Before Swine" cartoonist Stephan Pastis of United Media -- includes 66 original "Peanuts" comics about baseball.

Schulz once said in an interview that his baseball-themed strips weren't necessarily about that sport. Instead, he observed, "I use them as a springboard. Charlie Brown's problems on the mound are emotional conflicts that everyone deals with."

"Peanuts" reruns are still syndicated by United.
