By: E&P Staff Nearly a decade after his death, Charles M. Schulz is still the king.
A "Peanuts" comic strip from 1983 was featured in a June 14 Bonhams & Butterfields' Entertainment Memorabilia auction in Los Angeles that featured a wide variety of items related to Hollywood, Rock 'n Roll and Animation Arts.
The sale's top lot? A "Peanuts" pen-and-ink illustration in which Sally asks her brother Charlie Brown to help her with a report on Charles Dickens. When Charlie Brown asks her what she wants to know about Dickens, Sally aks, "Who did he play for?"
The strip was estimated to bring $10,000-15,000 -- and instead sold for $17,080.
Other highlights from the auction included a celluloid from the Walt Disney classic "Fantastia," which sold for $5,795, and a handbag carried by "Golden Girl" Estelle Getty in the TV series ($9,150).
