By: E&P Staff A 1955 "Peanuts" comic recently sold for $113,525 at an auction held by Heritage Auction Galleries of Dallas.

It was reportedly the first "Peanuts" strip to sell for six figures. DailyCartoonist.com blogger Alan Gardner, who mentioned the sale on his site, said the high price might be partly attributable to the popular "Complete Peanuts" books from Fantagraphics and this fall's controversial "Schulz and Peanuts" biography by David Michaelis.

The 1955 strip shows Charlie Brown and other baseball-playing characters in the rain.

"Peanuts" reruns by the late Charles M. Schulz continue to be syndicated by United Media.
