'Pearls Before Swine' Creator Visits Rival Syndicate Seeking Endorsement of New Book

By: E&P Staff Stephan Pastis, creator of the "Pearls Before Swine" comic strip, believes it's pretty easy to get your bosses -- in his case, United Feature Syndicate -- to endorse your new book. But, what kind of a challenge is that?

So to set the bar higher in promoting his new collection of strips (titled ?Pearls Sells Out?), Pastis traveled to Kansas City to rival Universal Press Syndicate, to get someone there to say something positive about it.

?I figure, anyone can go to his own syndicate and promote their book -- it?s sort of like asking your mom if she could say something nice about your work,? Pastis says in a video posted on his blog. He then sneaks into the building to find some Universal Press Syndicate employees to give their endorsement. (One could imagine the results.)
