Pennsylvania Newspaperman Edward Bell Dies at 89

Barking out orders to copy boys with a cigar clenched between his teeth, Edward D. Bell is remembered as "the quintessential newspaperman" and a stalwart proponent of union rights, according to the colleagues who knew him best.

Mr. Bell, 89, died Friday after a lengthy illness.
