Pennsylvania's 'Pocono Record' Names New Publisher

By: E&P Staff The Pocono Record in Stroudsburg, Pa., has named Jim Maxwell president and publisher, a position vacated by Sam Gett, who left to become publisher of The News-Times in Danbury, Conn.

Maxwell, 48, currently is the corporate advertising director for Ottaway Newspapers Inc., where he began work in January 2004. After graduating from Southern Oregon University, Maxwell first worked in the newsroom of the Ashland (Ore.) Daily Tidings and in advertising and marketing at several other Oregon papers.

This will be the Record's third publisher in the past three years. Joe Vanderhoof, who started at the Record in January 2003, then went to The Times-Herald Record in Middletown, N.Y., preceded Gett, who started at the Record in June 2004.
