Peter Baker of 'Wash Post' to 'NY Times'?

Posted
By: Joe Strupp Three weeks after Susan Glasser lost her job as assistant managing editor for national news at The Washington Post, her husband, veteran political scribe Peter Baker, has apparently jumped ship.

Politico.com reported Monday that Baker, a respected Post reporter who also embedded briefly in Iraq, is leaving for the rival New York Times. In a posting today, Politico reported that Baker was "jumping to The New York Times Magazine, according to a source."

The Politico item said Baker, who did not immediately respond to E&P, had no comment on the story. Times officials also had no immediate comment.

Glasser's April 22 removal is well-documented, with some claiming she was causing a morale problem in the department, while others told E&P that Glasser had made marked improvements to the paper's coverage. Last word was she was working on some project with Washington Post Company chairman Donald Graham.
