By: E&P Staff The Pew International Journalism Program will change its name to the International Reporting Project at SAIS on April 1, to reflect expanded sources of funding, according to Director John Schidlovsky.
The Pew Charitable Trusts have awarded the program a new three-year grant, but Pew will no longer be the sole funder. The program received a new grant from the Carnegie Corp. of New York and is currently in discussions with half a dozen other major foundations. Schidlovsky expects other grants to be announced this spring.
Founded in 1998, the program aims to help U.S. journalists better understand international issues and how to cover them through fellowships and other opportunities. The project is based at John Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington.
