PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Media Network Inc. (PMN), the owner and publisher of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News, and philly.com, announced that Guy "Doc" Holliday would join the company, effective Monday, May 2, as Chief Revenue Officer.
In this senior role established by PMN, Holliday will be responsible for all advertising sales and operations for The Inquirer, Daily News, philly.com and Dealyo, while working closely with the PMN executive team in bringing new digital products to the Philadelphia market.
Holliday is a highly successful senior media executive with extensive experience in newspaper, digital and e-commerce advertising sales. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Holliday began his publishing career at The New York Times, where he successfully served in Operations and Sales Management roles. As Vice President of Advertising Sales at The New York Times, Holliday was an early adopter of the cross-platform approach for print and digital sales.
In 2006, he left The New York Times to become the Executive Vice President Associate Publisher of Advertising Sales for the New York Daily News, where he continued to excel and innovate within the industry's growing convergence of advertising opportunities for print and digital products. Most recently, Holliday served as Vice President of Ad Sales for DealOn, a Groupon e-commerce competitor, where he developed a new national sales organization.
"Doc's positive attitude and enthusiasm for the media business is contagious, as demonstrated in his previous leadership positions with both large media organizations and digital start-ups," said Greg Osberg, Chief Executive Officer and Publisher of Philadelphia Media Network Inc.
"His impressive depth of experience in the evolving newspaper and digital mediums will be extremely helpful in our continuing quest to become the most successful regional media company in the United States. We're very pleased to have Doc as the newest member of our team."
"I look forward to becoming a key part of Philadelphia Media Network and embracing the new and exciting innovations they continue to bring into the market place," said Holliday in accepting the position. "I am honored to join this storied organization, representative of important, iconic publishing brands known and respected not only in Philadelphia and the region, but throughout the media industry."
Over the past several months, Philadelphia Media Network has implemented and announced a series of design, content and product enhancements at The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, and philly.com, positioning the two newspapers and website site to be more competitive within the new media landscape.
"I am very pleased with the progress we have made in the past several months to better position The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News, and philly.com to not just compete, but lead the way in the current media landscape," said Osberg. "Doc's experience and enthusiasm in serving as Philadelphia Media Network's Chief Revenue Officer will pave the way for new innovations and enhancements in the months and years to come."
