PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Media Network (PMN), owners of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, and Philly.com, will launch the sale of deeply-discounted Android tablets and digital editions of its news to the public at a press conference on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 1 p.m. at PMN headquarters, 400 North Broad Street in Philadelphia.
PMN is the first major news company in the United States to “bundle” the tablet with digital subscriptions to its news content, an innovative approach that has won the Company widespread accolades within the publishing industry and among media experts.
PMN Publisher and CEO Greg Osberg will be joined by representatives from ARNOVA, the tablet manufacturer, and other partners in the new initiative. During the two-month pilot program, PMN will offer 5,000 of the tablets and the bundled “apps” for sale to the public, with sales commencing on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Tuesday morning.
