Miller resigned his post as chief financial officer of Philadelphia Newspapers LLC, which owns The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News, the Inquirer reported today. Miller said he was leaving for a job as chief financial officer and chief operating officer at Library Video Co.
Miller's staff will report to Richard Thayer, executive vice president/finance for the papers, on an interim basis, the paper said.
In addition, the paper reported that Gordon Medenica had been named executive vice president at the jointly-owned papers, where he had been overseeing news operations. Medenica, a former New York Times business executive, was a consultant to Inquirer and Daily News publisher Brian P. Tierney before joining his executive team.
The CFO's departure comes a day after The Inquirer announced that Bill Marimow would replace Amanda Bennett as the paper's editor in two weeks.
