Photography: Telling Art From Fraud

This year’s World Press Photo awards saw an unprecedented number of entrants thrown out for tampering with their images - reopening an old debate on what can be a fine line, in photojournalism, between artistry and fraud.

Twenty percent of images that made it to the penultimate stage of the photojournalism contest were disqualified for excessive manipulation - three times as many as last year. Candidates whose photographs made it to the final stages were asked to provide RAW files along with their final submissions.
