Pigs to Fly Again in Philly to Celebrate Circ Rise

Posted
By: E&P Staff With a 2.3% increase in daily circulation at The Philadelphia Inquirer it was pretty much a given that Brian Tierney would re-launch the flying pigs concept.

The paper is set to release the 2.0 version of its ad campaign that it rolled out last May when the paper also recorded growth in daily circulation in a FAS-FAX. This time the theme is "The Return of the Flying Pigs: The Movie."

Created by the firm Gyro Worldwide, the campaign consists of three multi-media components: A :90 spot for broadcast TV that also will be featured in 400 movie theaters in the Philadelphia area, three :60 radio spots, and a four-page insert to run in the Inquirer and Daily News starting on Friday Nov. 9.

The insert will contain an illustration of air-bound swine by movie-poster illustrator George Angelini ("Batman Returns"). The rest of the insert is designed in the style of celebrity coverage like in the pages of US Weekly.
