Pioneer Acquires Idaho Weekly

By: E&P Staff Pioneer Newspapers has acquired the weekly Teton Valley News in Driggs, Idaho, from Grand Teton News on Jan. 1, 2006. Terms of the deal, brokered by Cribb & Associates, were not disclosed. A week before, Grand Teton News acquired Pioneer's Havre, Montana, newspaper, The Daily News.

"The Teton Valley is a growing area, and we think the Teton Valley news will be a great fit for our group," said David Lord, president of Seattle-based Pioneer Newspapers, in a statement.

Pioneer is the majority owner of a number of Idaho daily and weekly newspapers. It also publishes papers in Montana, Utah, Oregon, and Washington.
