Pioneer Newspapers Buys Sun News

By: E&P Staff Pioneer Newspapers has agreed to buy all of the Sun News properties in Idaho and Utah from Bob and Debra Marshall and Kris and Catherine Passey.

Terms of the deal, brokered by Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, were not disclosed.

The sale includes six weekly papers and companion shoppers including the Tremonton (Utah) Leader, and the Preston Citizen and the Montpelier News in Idaho.

Pioneer Newspapers is family-owned by members of the Scripps family. The company publishes newspapers in Oregon, Montana, Washington, and Idaho.
