Pioneer Newspapers Sells 'Havre (Mont.) Daily News'

By: E&P Staff Pioneer Newspapers has sold the Havre (Mont.) Daily News to Robb Hicks, Gary Stevenson, and Tom Mullen. Terms of the deal, brokered by Cribb & Associates, were not disclosed.

Pioneer, based in Seattle, has owned the Havre newspaper for 31 years.

David Lord, president of Pioneer, said he had not intended to sell the paper but was approached by Hicks, Stevenson, and Mullen in November with an offer. Lord met the Wyoming-based partners when Pioneer bought West Yellowstone News from them.

Hicks, Stevenson, and Mullen own about a dozen newspapers including the Sun-Telegraph in Sidney, Neb.
