A multimillion-dollar court dispute between Richard Mellon Scaife’s descendants and three trustees should remain open to the public, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Philadelphia Inquirer argued in a petition served Tuesday.
The newspapers’ petition, to be filed in Allegheny County’s Orphans Court Division, argues that a fight over an emptied trust fund could affect the flow of the late Mr. Scaife’s fortune to charities.
