Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Names Stan Wischnowski Executive Editor and Vice President

On September 14, 2020, Stan Wischnowski was named executive editor and vice president of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. In this role, Mr. Wischnowski is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the newsroom, an operation that focuses heavily on digital publishing as well as three days of print.

John Robinson Block, publisher and editor-in-chief of the Post-Gazette said, “I am pleased to appoint Stan Wischnowski executive editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette,” Mr. Block said. “His long and distinguished career inspires us at this difficult time. I look forward to working with him.”

Prior to coming to the Post-Gazette, Mr. Wischnowski was the executive editor for The Philadelphia Inquirer, a position he held for nearly 10 years. During his tenure, the Inquirer was awarded the 2012 Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for Public Service for a series of investigative stories exposing the magnitude of violence in Philadelphia’s public schools. Prior to his time in Philadelphia, which began in 2000 and included various roles, Mr. Wischnowski was a news editor in Rochester, N.Y. and Detroit, Mich. and graduated from Western Illinois University with a B.A. in Journalism.

In July, Tracey DeAngelo was promoted to president and general manager of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She was previously the vice president and general manager.
