By: E&P Staff Valerie Plame, the former Central Intelligence Agency officer, has sold her memoir for a little more than $2.5 million, sources involved in the bidding process told The New York Times for a Saturday article.
The Times reports that the title of the book will be "Fair Game," and it is scheduled to be published in the fall of 2007 by Crown.
Steve Ross, senior vice president and publisher of Crown, told the paper the book would be Plame's "first airing of her actual role in the American intelligence community, as well as the prominence of her role in the lead-up to the war."
Plame, married to Joseph Wilson, now prefers to be called Valerie Wilson.
Ross said she had submitted a 50-page proposal. "We were all astonished at the richness of her storytelling," he said. He would not confirm the money deal, nor would her agent.
