Two vertical portals serving the gay and lesbian community yesterday made major strides
in getting content and tooling it for their targeted markets.

The Gay Financial Network and PlanetOut both announced deals that provide them with
content and services from varying sources such as Web sites, magazines, radio, and
television.

The Gay Financial Network (gfn.com) has signed deals with twelve companies including
news and information providers such as the Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition,
MarketWatch.com, Vault.com, and Barron's Online. Gfn.com will feature content from these
sites on its network as well as participate in cross-promotion.

PlanetOut, a gay and lesbian Internet portal, has acquired Liberation Publications Ltd.,
a publishing company with titles such as The Advocate magazine and Out magazine.

'It's the gay and lesbian version of the Time Warner-AOL merger,' said PlanetOut CEO
Susan Smith in an interview with Reuters.
