By: Jennifer Saba Plastic Logic and Olive Software are teaming up to enable newspapers, magazines and other publishers to distribute content on Plastic Logic's forthcoming digital reader.

Olive provides content management publishing software for the Web (such as e-editions), smart phones and other platforms.

"We're very focused on helping our publishing partners create unique reading experiences for the Plastic Logic Reader and Olive is a valuable partner with us in achieving that goal," Daren Benzi, vice president of business development at Plastic Logic, said in a statement. "Olive brings deep experience in serving the needs of major publishers in the industry, including many of our strategic partners."

Plastic Logic plans to launch its e-reader in early 2010. The device is the size of an 8.5 X 11 inch sheet of paper, weighs less than most magazines and is Wi-Fi and 3G enabled. Plastic Logic is aiming the devices at business users and will support PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents.

"The Plastic Logic solution gives publishers an easy and exciting new way to expand their audience reach and develop new business models while preserving the context and graphical presentation of their content," Dewayn Davis, president of Olive Software, said in a statement.

The company recently partnered with Barnes & Noble, which is powering its eBookstore and digital reader. Plastic Logic has partnerships in place with The Financial Times, USA Today and the Detroit Free Press.
