Plastic Logic Teams with Barnes & Noble

By: E&P Staff Plastic Logic, manufacturer of an e-reader slated to come to market next year, is partnering with Barnes & Noble.

The book retailer is launching an eBookstore taking direct aim at Amazon, its Kindle device and electronic distribution of books.

Barnes & Noble offers more than 700,000 titles priced at $9.99 available for delivery on the iPhone, iPod touch, BlackBerry and the forthcoming Plastic Logic e-reader.

Barnes & Noble said in a release it plans to "power the eBookstore" for the Plastic Logic e-reader.

"Today marks the first phase of our digital strategy, which is rooted in the belief that readers should have access to the books in their digital library from any device, from anywhere, at any time," William J. Lynch, president of BN.com, said in a statement.

Plastic Logic is partnering with several newspapers including USA Today, the Financial Times, the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News.
