Plurality of Doonesbury.com Voters: 'Times' Story May Help McCain

Posted
By: E&P Staff Will last week's New York Times story about John McCain's lobbyist ties ultimately help the Republican candidate?

A plurality of voters are saying "yes" in a Doonesbury.com online poll that's still running.

As of late this morning, 41% of more than 3,500 votes agree that "GOP unity" will result from the McCain article because many Republicans dislike the Times.

Meanwhile, 36% of the votes agree that the Times "went with the story before they actually had it," and 22% think the story will lead to "McCain's demise."

The Times article implied, among other things, that McCain had a very close relationship with a female lobbyist 31 years his junior.

Garry Trudeau's "Doonesbury" comic runs in about 1,400 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate.
