By: E&P Staff Gannett's PointRoll is extending its rich media ad network to the iPhone. ESPN, USA Today and others can now run rich media ads on the Apple mobile phone.
"The growth of our advertising footprint on the iPhone enables leading brands to create interactive and targeted messages that can be served on some of the most popular mobile sites available," Jason Tafler, PointRoll CEO, said in a statement.
The iPhone first surfaced rich media ads powered by PointRoll last year when USA Today featured ads from Ford Flex and Focus Features.
PointRoll's technology lets users interact with the advertisers with tap to call and send to a friend. The ads on the mobile network have the same features as those that run on a computer - with coupon downloads, expanding panels, and click to maps.
"As the first mobile ad network to offer PointRoll technology, Millennial Media's advertising clients can now deliver additional rich mobile formats that are creatively consistent with their online counterparts," Paul Palmieri, president and CEO of Millennial Media, said in a statement.
