POLITICO to launch 'Berlin Playbook' newsletter in Germany

POLITICO has announced the launch of its first German language offering through its flagship product, Playbook, in Berlin. “Berlin Playbook,” a free daily e-mail newsletter dedicated to unraveling the intricacies of German politics, will land in inboxes every Monday to Friday at 7 a.m. beginning on Monday, Feb. 19. POLITICO, which recently celebrated its 17th anniversary in January, has grown to over 1,100 employees, including more than 500 journalists across two continents and seven time zones globally.

POLITICO will deploy this vast network to provide its growing German audience with comprehensive and insightful coverage not only of the Chancellery and the Bundestag, but also reporting, exploring and contextual analysis of, Berlin's standing in the global political landscape. Berlin Playbook will delve into how decisions are made, scrutinized, regulated and determined across global power centers.

Meet the team:

Gordon Repinski takes the helm as the executive editor Germany, being responsible for the editorial team in Berlin. General Manager and responsible for POLITICO's market entry in Germany and the further expansion of the portfolio is Cecil von Busse.

Acting as deputy lead writer of Berlin Playbook, Hans von der Burchard is a seasoned senior politics reporter covering German foreign affairs and the German Chancellery.

Leading POLITICO’s policy team in Berlin, Jürgen Klöckner will join POLITICO in May. He will also be a senior reporter for the Playbook team, bringing in his expertise in the fields of health and AI. Klöckner is a widely known reporter who previously worked for the business daily “Handelsblatt” as well as for “Huffington Post Germany.”
