'Pooch' Strip Optioned for TV Series

By: E&P Staff The "Pooch Cafe" comic by Paul Gilligan of Universal Press Syndicate has been optioned as a half-hour animated comedy series for TV.

It was optioned by Hazy Mills Productions of Los Angeles. Co-producing will be Bridget McMeel and John Glynn of Universal's AMUSE division.

Hazy Mills partners Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner are currently producing the upcoming Bravo series "Situation: Comedy." Also, Hayes is on NBC's "Will & Grace," and has appeared in "The Cat in the Hat" and "Pieces of April."

"Pooch Cafe," which runs in more than 150 papers, stars a dog named Poncho. The comic moved to Universal in 2003 after having been launched by Copley News Service.
