Portland Press Herald Upgrades DTI Ad System

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Portland (Maine) Press Herald purchased the ClassSpeed Web Order Entry system from Digital Technology International, Springville, Utah. The Press Herald also plans to upgrade its 95-seat classified, display, and retail order-entry advertising system from DTI.

Though the paper has used DTI's 4.2 publishing software for over six years, the change is more than an upgrade, as the Press Herald is getting new technology with DTI's 5.x system.

DTI's system will provide an integrated print and Web advertising solution. ClassSpeed Web Order Entry will enable Press Herald customers to design, preview, and buy classified ads online anytime.

For print classifieds, ClassSpeed formatting features will provide additional upsell options. An operator using the "show all formats" feature can see an ad formatted in several ways in one window. ClassSpeed displays a preview of each version and calculates its size and price.

Another timesaver, alternating text will allow the Press Herald to use "first day" logos on new ads without having to duplicate and schedule a separate ad for that first day.

AdSpeed, DTI's display advertising system, incorporates Adobe InDesign tools with database publishing capabilities. It integrates with ClassSpeed and Retail Order Entry.
