By: E&P Staff Nearly 250 editorial workers at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette have approved contract concessions that amount to about $6 million in givebacks, the paper said Tuesday.

The newspaper said the new contract was necessary due to declining revenues and spiraling health-care costs. Members of the paper's nine other unions, representing about 850 employees, approved the deal on Sunday. The editorial union gave its consent on Monday.

The deal includes giving back a $10 weekly pay raise in July, contributing higher co-payments for prescriptions and forgoing one week of vacation in 2005. The current contract runs through 2006. In total, the paper projected a $6 million savings from the move.
