Press Release | Postmedia
Postmedia Network Inc. has announced the launch of its latest reimagined and renamed brands – the
Saskatoon StarPhoenix and
Regina Leader-Post. With cleaner and fresher looks, both brands have redesigned not only the look and feel but also the form and function on all four platforms – print, web, smartphone and tablet – to enhance the reader experience.
“The reimagined and renamed
Regina Leader-Post offers a more engaging experience for readers and a unique ability for advertisers to target their customers across four platforms,” said Stephen Ripley, Editor,
Regina Leader-Post. “We are excited about being able to connect with our readers in deeper and more meaningful ways on the platform of their choice.”
The reimagined
Saskatoon StarPhoenix and
Regina Leader-Post feature:
redesigned smartphone apps for iOS and Android, featuring SP Now and LP Now, includes content that is unique, direct, concise, delivered in short bursts and updated frequently with an emphasis on follow and share and apps for the Apple Watch;
newly designed newspapers that focus on insights and analysis on the news that matters most to local audiences;
rebranded responsive websites which optimize content presentation to every screen size with content that is updated twenty-four hours a day; and
rebranded iPad apps, available through Apple iTunes, providing comprehensive tablet news experiences with multimedia and rich photos.
Print audiences will also be able to enjoy the newest additions to the newspapers, NP in the
Saskatoon StarPhoenix and NP in the
Regina Leader-Post. Powered by the
National Post, the NP section provides a comprehensive package of national and international news and analysis while also rounding up some of the best commentary and columnists including Christie Blatchford, Andrew Coyne, Robert Fulford and Michael Den Tandt.
“With the redesign of our platforms, we not only refreshed the look and feel but have also enhanced the user experience,” said Heather Persson, Editor,
Saskatoon StarPhoenix. “With multimedia and rich photos prominently focused throughout our digital platforms, the new features are highly immersive and allow our readers to share with ease.”
The redesigned
Saskatoon StarPhoenix masthead combines the classic newspaper nameplate with an abstract representation of one of Saskatoon’s most distinguishing features, a bend in the South Saskatchewan river. The river is the heart of the city and the new logo embraces its prominence in the community. Inspired by the Saskatoon berry, the new masthead is rendered in shades of purple and reinforces our connection to the city and unifies our print, web, smartphone and tablet platforms.
The redesigned
Regina Leader-Post masthead combines the classic newspaper nameplate with an abstract representation of a highway that leads from the horizon into the heart of the city. Rendered in shades of gold and yellow, the colour is inspired by the harvest and sun and reinforces our connection to the land and to the city and unifies our print, web, smartphone and tablet platforms.
The launch sponsors include Capital Automotive Group for the
Regina Leader-Post and Conexus Credit Union for the
Saskatoon StarPhoenix. Each launch sponsor has a full page ad in today’s print edition wrap and will “take over” the brand’s website tomorrow. Capital Automotive Group and Conexus Credit Union will also have premium ads prominently placed on multiple platforms for four weeks post-launch.
A three-month marketing campaign, “At your fingertips”, begins today in each market focusing on both local and generic characters representing content categories such as news, sports, politics, business, arts and life and reinforces the accessibility readers have to the
Regina Leader-Post’s and
Saskatoon StarPhoenix’s content.
Readers can download the redesigned smartphone apps directly from iTunes or Google Play for Android.
