'Potomac Junction' Column Ends After 18 Years

By: E&P Staff Robert L. Haught has retired "Potomac Junction," a Washington-based political humor column he's written for The Oklahoman since 1989.

Haught began the column as an editorial writer in the Oklahoma City newspaper's Washington bureau. After retiring from full-time employment in 1995, he continued the feature -- which ran on the Op-Ed page.

The columnist also became a self-syndicated writer in 2003 with the creation of "Now, I'm No Expert," which was the basis for a 2006 book.

Haught -- a former officer and board member of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists -- told E&P he'll continue to pursue "journalistic ventures." He plans to publish a second book in 2008 titled "The POTUS Chronicles: Bubba Between the Bushes," drawing on columns written during the last three presidential administrations.
