By: Scrambling their old names together, the recently merged AdOne and PowerAdz have become PowerOne Media Inc.
Based in Troy, N.Y., the online vendor for the newspaper industry also announced its first new contracts as one company. The Hearst Corp.'s
Houston Chronicle and Hearst Community Newspapers will use PowerOne products. Hearst previously invested in AdOne and used some of that company's services.
In a statement, Hearst Newspapers Digital Media Director Ian Murdock said PowerOne's new platform will replace applications previously provided by Zip2, which is being shut down by owner MyWay Corp. PowerOne Media may be able to capitalize on the demise of once-mighty Zip2, which was used by many newspapers for online directories.
PowerOne is combining the offerings of AdOne and PowerAdz to offer integrated publishing, directory, and classified systems for newspaper Web sites. The companies announced their merger in November.
