By: E&P Staff Privately owned manufacturer Printing Press Services International, headquartered in Preston, England, with facilities in Montreal and Perth, Australia, announced it is nearing a final, long-term, agreement to mass produce trams.
The joint-venture agreement with privately owned Trampower would use PPSI's main, $38.2 million Preston plant, which covers five acres and is equipped with the latest in modern machine tools, according to PPSI Managing Director Stephen McManamon.
Lancashire-based Trampower designs, develops and promotes light-rail technology.
PPSI is the latest among newspaper pressmakers to announce that it is producing or plans to produce equipment for customers other than printers (see February E&P).
