To better serve its Inland Southern California community, the Press-Enterprise introduces a completely upgraded and re-imagined newspaper starting today. The new Press-Enterprise includes added depth to local news, an expanded columnist roster, a new Inland SoCal Register section, enhanced design elements, and a more diverse collection of voices and views within its Opinion pages.

With building community as its core mission, the new Press-Enterprise focuses on engaging storytelling, personality-rich journalism, and cultivating deeper connections between staff and subscribers through meet-and-greet events, go-and-do experiences and value-added entertainment benefits. The newsroom is extending direct invitations to submit guest columns, stories, photos, event listings, ideas for columns and letters to the editor. Publisher Mike Burns and Editor Michael Coronado will also frequently write columns to interact with readers.

“The re-imagined Press-Enterprise has a distinctly human and neighborly feel, with more uplifting stories and unexpected surprises that truly engage subscribers and add richness to our daily lives,” Burns said. “The Press-Enterprise plays an incredibly important role in terms of informing and engaging the communities we serve. The investments into the community through the new Press-Enterprise expand upon its identity as the heart and soul of the community by creating a more immersive, entertaining, enjoyable and ultimately essential experience.”

The new and enhanced Press-Enterprise has a new design, more color, and expanded columns and original features. The Guide, a weekly entertainment section on Fridays, will debut as Go + Do with expanded entertainment and things-to-do information on Jan. 24. Additionally, the Press-Enterprise will expand its entertainment content from once a week to daily.

The main section focuses on top news stories that impact Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, and include a business section and two robust local Opinion pages.

A comprehensive Local section includes City Pages for Riverside, Temecula, Hemet, Corona-Norco, Redlands and other communities. It has a heavy focus on community-level news and features about interesting people, government and politics, schools, nonprofits and go-and-do activities. Local also includes TV listings, puzzles, weather, obituaries, and life-enriching feature content on health, wellness and faith & values.

The Sports section contains breaking news, analysis, commentary, recaps, stats and standings from local teams on the professional, collegiate and high school level. The section includes a heavy emphasis on varsity sports coverage, and will unite P-E veterans with other award-winning sports columnists from the Register.

The fourth section, Inland SoCal Register, focuses on top news from our community's perspective on regional, state, national and international news. The section includes Focus pages, a feature that provides clarity and context around relevant and complex international, national or state news using visually compelling graphics, timelines, charts, illustrations and data.

The upgrades to the Press-Enterprise are the latest development in Freedom Communications’ subscriber-focused strategy that includes providing more value to subscribers and adding depth to local content.
