The new owners of
The Press-Enterprise announced plans Wednesday to lay off 39 back-office, newsroom, information technology and production workers as part of a restructuring of the Riverside daily newspaper.
It is the second round of layoffs since Santa Ana-based Freedom Communications bought the newspaper from Dallas-based A.H. Belo Corp. in November for $27.25 million. At the time, the newspaper had 375 full-time and part-time workers. Last month, Freedom laid off 42 Riverside workers.
