PrimaSolve to Supply Production Software for Post Newsweek

Posted
By: E&P Staff The PrimaSolve System subsidiary of England's Harland Simon plc will install its Prima Management System at Post Newsweek Media, Gaithersburg, Md., for use with that Washington Post Co. unit's six-tower Mitsubishi press.

Group President Frank Abbott said in a statement that the system "offers the flexibility we need to achieve our goals ... from interacting with our prepress systems, the reporting capabilities, or to uploading the imposition to the press controls."

The PrimaSolve technology will interface with Mitsubishi's CCS System, ProImage's NewsWay workflow, Mactive's page layout system, and FMC's SGV Manager systems.

Besides sending job, imposition, scheduling and other information, the Prima systems will record and report such data as speed, copy count, and status signals, according to Post Newsweek Media IT Director Shane Butcher

Commissioning is to begin in late March, with full production, expected by next October.

The Register Guard, Eugene, Ore., recently put the Prima Management System to use with its 15-year-old Mitsubishi Press.
