Protec Pushes Convergence

Posted
By: E&P Staff In addition to its Milenium Radio/TV editor now employing the same interface as the Milenium editor, Madrid-based Protec has added new functionalities to all its solutions with the idea that "the medium in which the news item is to published does not determine the way in which this will be edited."

To accomplish this, Protec uses one work interface for all media in which a story may be published, facilitating simultaneous editing. A journalist working on a story for print may add whatever is considered appropriate for a Web edition without additional work.

It gives priority to achieving a level of quality that stands above competing voices, which requires, according to Protec, the element of citizen journalism, "since the reader can participate through options such as rating and commenting on" published news. For this, Protec designed functions that allow the journalist to control and maintain an adequate level of involvement, such as moderating readers' comments in a fully integrated manner.
