PT Gramedia Modernise with Harland Simon

PT Gramedia, the newspaper printing division of Kompas Gramedia Group, the largest media group in Indonesia placed an order for the modernisation of parts of their Press Control System with Harland Simon which has now been completed.

Harland Simon have always had a policy of supporting their own equipment for as long as possible and only declaring modules obsolete when it is impossible to source the component parts required to repair or manufacture them. When such a situation occurs we always proactively develop an upgrade path and develop approaches which address such an issue as economically as possible. Just such a situation has occurred at PT Gramedia with some PLC equipment originally designed over 20 years ago. For their Jakarta location we proposed a solution that would replace certain key elements which could be completed with only minimal changes to the system. This would then release additional spare components which will be used to support the elements which would be more difficult and more expensive to replace on a busy press.

Rob Watson, Harland Simon’s Sales Director said, "We are pleased to be able to support a long established and valued customer with a solution that will extend the life of their system at reasonable cost"
