Carson City, Nev.-- Mark Raymond, general manager of Sierra Nevada Media Group and longtime publisher for The News-Review in Roseburg, Ore., has been named publisher of the Nevada Appeal and The Record-Courier.
In addition to his new role, Raymond will continue as general manager of Sierra Nevada Media Group -- a branch of Swift Communications -- overseeing the Lahontan Valley News, Northern Nevada Business Weekly, the Tahoe Daily Tribune, the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza, the Sierra Sun, and commercial printing.
The veteran newspaper executive has been publisher for the past 30 years for diverse newspaper operations across six states.
His early career included work in advertising sales and management, as well as work as a reporter and editor.
Raymond had been publisher of The News-Review in Roseburg since 2000 and was named general manager of Sierra Nevada Media Group in January 2011.
He assumed interim publisher responsibilities for the Nevada Appeal and The Record-Courier in September. During his tenure, The News-Review garnered numerous awards for General Excellence from the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association.
Raymond has served on two state press association boards, including a term as president of the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association.
