Sam Delk Kennedy, a passionate voice for open government in more than 50 years as a politician and publisher, died Tuesday night at his home in Columbia, S.C. He was 91.
The former publisher of the Daily Herald was a powerful local and statewide figure, having served as a General Sessions judge, district attorney general and Maury County mayor in his illustrious career.
