By: E&P Staff Pulitzer Newspapers Inc. of St. Louis has named Jane Amari vice president-news. She will continue in her present role as editor and publisher of the
Arizona Daily Star in Tucson.
The newly created VP position will oversee editorial strategies, redesigns, acquisition assessments, retention, and professional development. Amari, 56, will consult with Pulitzer's publishers and editors at its 12 daily papers and other properties.
Pulitzer Inc. Senior Vice President Mark G. Contreras praised Amari in a statement for achieving five straight years of circulation growth.
She joined the newspaper in 1999 after working at
The News Journal in Wilmington, Del., and numerous other papers.
