By: E&P Staff Patrick Purcell, owner of Herald Media Inc., has purchased The Lancaster Times & Clinton Courier from publisher Paul Della Valle.

Terms of the transaction, which includes the sale of MotherTown monthly magazine, were not disclosed.

?It was a tough decision to sell but it was time for me to move on to other things, including book and music projects and teaching,? said Della Valle in a statement. ?We've been associated with Community Newspaper Co. for five years now, through our printing agreement, and know they put out great weeklies. We chose Herald Media because we are confident that, in their hands, the Times & Courier will continue to be an award-winning publication and the best newspaper in Clinton and Lancaster.?

The Lancaster Times was started in 1996 and the Clinton Courier was founded in 1999. The papers merged in 2002.

Herald Media publishes the Boston Herald, four suburban daily papers, 89 weeklies, and 14 shoppers, among other specialty publications.
