Much of the video news content currently online is available for free. But video content creators are naturally seeking ways to monetize those assets.

Qpass, the Seattle-based company that manages online text-based content sales for the likes of Factiva and NYTimes.com, has agreed to work with Virage Inc., the application service provider that digitizes video content for online searches.

The San Mateo, Calif.-based Virage will integrate its Internet Video Application Platform with Qpass' Digital Commerce Service so video content sales can be easily managed. The two companies say that their platforms combined give media customers a complete solution for publishing, packaging, distributing, and monetizing video content.

Virage deploys streaming video on the Internet for more than 150 customers, including Yahoo! and ABCNews.com.
