QuadTech Systems Assist Louisiana Printer

Posted
By: E&P Staff Since integrating the QuadTech Register Guidance System with MultiCam and the QuadTech Register Motorization through the QuadTech ICON platform earlier this year, Eunice-based Louisiana State Printing reports rising efficiency and productivity and lower waste.

The web offset newspaper printer installed the systems on its 14-unit Manugraph DGM 430 press, a recent addition, configured as six mono units and two four-high towers. The ICON platform centralizes control of all QuadTech equipment at one user-friendly station.

"We are seeing faster startups and reduced makeready times," General Manager Blake Messner said in a statement. "We ... are certain that we can cut our waste by up to 50% over the next few months." Messner also cited minimal lens maintenance for the MultiCam, which can be combined with QuadTech's Ribbon Control and color-to-color Register Guidance systems.

The camera detects blemishes on the web up to 30 times per second. The camera strobe's light-emitting diodes have a life expectancy exceeding 10 years.

A sister company of Louisiana State Newspapers, Louisiana State Printing has 15 employees. Among the 30 papers it prints, the largest dailies are The Crowley Post Signal and The Abbeville Meridianal.
