COP26 is the biggest climate summit since the Paris Agreement was inked in 2015. It comes at a pivotal moment for the planet as countries and companies hope to hit the gas on the transition to a fossil-fuel-free economy.
Quartz, which has 1.3 million subscribers across all of its newsletters with a 35% average open rate, launched its latest newsletter, Need To Know: COP26, on Nov. 1. It already has more than 10,000 subscribers, along with Carbon Collective as a sponsor.
In addition to Quartz’s daily and weekly newsletters, the team continuously creates these kinds of pop up newsletters when a significant event that is impacting global economies and businesses takes place. Katherine Bell, editor in chief, says: "Quartz has found that newsletters are a key way to engage its audience and boil down ideas without giving up depth."
The COP26 newsletter will be issued every other day until the end of COP26 — with the newsroom, including on-site reporters Tim McDonnell and Amanda Shendruk, providing insight and analysis on the agreements being made and discussions being held.
