By: E&P Staff Quasar Technologies in Madrid, Spain, has launched Doc/Design Converter, which automatically converts Adobe InDesign files into Microsoft Word documents and vice versa, providing numerous benefits and time savings, as well as promoting collaboration.
Users are required only to save the Word document or InDesign file in an input folder, where it then disappears as it is being converted. Seconds later the converted file appears in an upload folder as an exact replicate of the original, preserving all geometries and text attributes, such as colors, fonts, styles, and tables.
A sophisticated graphic-design tool requiring extensive training to achieve proficiency, InDesign becomes restrictive for those users who are unfamiliar with it but must use it to complete their work, according to Quasar. Doc/Design allows regular users, freelancers, and external to work with Word as their layout tool by starting from the original InDesign file that has been converted into Word, or to start directly from Word and then have a graphic layout artist continue in InDesign.
