Quayle Family Sells Indiana Daily

By: E&P Staff The Quayle family sold the Huntington (Ind.) Herald-Press to Paxton Media Group.

Terms of the deal, brokered by Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, were not disclosed.

"This is a bittersweet time," Michael Quayle, president of Huntington Newspapers Inc., said in a statement. "Our family has been associated with the Herald-Press since the early 1930s. It has meant and will always mean a great deal to us. These are challenging days for this business, though, and we believe now is the time to turn the Herald-Press over to an organization that will build on the foundation and responsibility, integrity and service that has been established at the Herald-Press."

The Herald-Press has a weekday circulation of 5,905.

Paxton Media Group, based in Paducah, Ky., Is a family owned company, which publishes daily papers -- eight in Indiana -- weeklies, shoppers and TV stations.
